Booster Meeting Minutes

Friday, April 21, 2010

Officers Present: Lance White, Roy Kinion, Kim Kinion, Rick Graff

Members: Michael Peterson, Jim Lynch, Rich Edwards.

Students: Several students from Track, Baseball and Softball present.

Financial Report : None.

Sports Report:

Track:

•  Track Team is off to State this morning!

Softball:

•  Howie: The girls took 3 rd in the Pac West! Had a great season.

•  Game at Harrisburg today for Palyoffs.

•  3 Girls were 2 nd team all league, 4 Honerable mention.

•  9 girls on the team have a batting average over 300.

•  4 Seniors will be leaving this year.

Baseball:

•  Clint: Finished p the season with Regis. Team had a really tough year, losing kids to grades and other issues.

Golf:

•  Boys: Had State on Monday and Tuesday. Matt Edwards had a great experience at State. Placed 43 rd out of 90. Finished up 3 rd in District.

•  Girls: Sarah Rickets was Honorable Mention for Girls Golf.

AD Report :

•  Spring Sports awards are Thursday May 27 th @ 6:30 PM

•  Phil Moran will not be coming back to coach Wrestling next year. Jay Tyler is possibly interested in taking over the program. Clint would like to see the program moved back to the High School to generate interests. If the kids see it happening, they will be more interested.

•  Clint would like to clarify that the LCSD is NOT funding the middle school Football and Volleyball program in Newport.

Business:

•  Bay Cleanup is Tomorrow. Hope to see lots of coaches and students attend

•  Boomer Breakfast is next Friday, May 28.

Coaches Report....

BOYS GOLF: Coach Rich Edwards and athlete Matt Edwards present. Had districts, team placed 3rd over all, Matt Edwards qualified for STATE!! Did really well. State is next Monday and Tuesday. This is the 4th year in a row that they have had a state qualifier....want to keep up the tradition.

GIRLS SOFTBALL: Athlete Jayme Babinski present. Had a game Tuesday against Santiam Christian and lost. Play Regis tonight....right now are sitting in 3rd and definately going to STATE!! First time making a state appearance since 1993.

TRACK: Coach Janet Johnson and athletes Patrick Hansen, Dylan Parks, Joe Nelson, Dan Nelson, Josie Myres, Jess Thompson, Kyle Oleman, Kohl Marks, Rachenda Goulet, Tyler Welke, Ivan Nyberg, Joey Williams, Brandi Estelle, Shantelle Brown, Natasha Rizzio, Brittany Petersen, Molly Paeth, Chase Kinion, Kyle Cameron and Justin Turner present. Had meet last Friday, Harrisburg Twilight, girls came in 4th, guys came in 1st and earned a trophy! Have districts today and tomorrow at Sprague High School. State is next weekend at Western Oregon. Been a great season, lots of hard work and looking forward to it paying off this weekend!

Ad Report....

Boys Baseball lost a couple of players due to grades, playing Regis tonight to finish off season.

Spring Sports Awards will be Thursday, May 27th at 6:30PM in the cafeteria.

Sara Rickets received Honorable Mention in girls golf, just missing going to State by 1 stroke.

Old Business....

Lance White explained the golf 'Hole-in-One' contest, tournament and promoted the $100,000 prize. Tickets for 'Hole-in-One' will be $1.00 each and we will draw 10 qualifiers. $65.00 to play in tournament.

Coaches Report....

TRACK: Coach Janet Johnson and athletes Molly Paeth, Rachenda Goulet, Stormi Carver, Joe Nelson, Dan Nelson, Josie Myres, Kyle Cameron, Natasha Rizzo, Shantelle Brown, Chase Kinion present. Harrisburg Twilight meet tonight, districts next week at Sprague High School in Salem and State meet at Western University May 21st & 22nd. Team is healing from sickness and injuries but looking strong. Team has been working hard, looking for PR's at todays meet and has formed a tight bond.

BASEBALL: Team played Harrisburg on Wednesday and was 10 runned. Lost some athletes due to grades.

SOFTBALL: Team beat Harrisburg on Wednesday in bottom of the 8th. Exciting game! Now is setting 3rd in league.

GIRLS GOLF: Sara Ricketts is playing well. Districts is today and Monday, 10th, 2010.

BOYS GOLF: Boys had JV match this week at Olalla Golf Course in Toledo. Districts is Monday & Tuesday....May 10th & 11th.

EQUESTRIAN TEAM: Going to Central Point next week.

AD Report....

Clint Raever reported that we lost some athletes to grades. Spring sports awards will be held Monday, May 17th, at 6:30PM.

New Business....

Motion on the floor to pay bill from J.C. Market for morning refreshments. Second and passed.

Motion on the floor to pay for master list of businesses from City of Toledo for banner program. Second and passed.

Thanks to Jerry Pryor for writing grant to the Confederated Tribe of Siletz and Rick Graff and Lance White for going up to the casino and picking up the check for $2500.00. Funds to be used to build shelter over BBQ and eating area.
